The 3.5MM
Traditionally every 3.5mm cord has 3 groups of wires in the cable.
Red for the right audio channel
White for the left audio channel
Bare cable for the ground
The grounding cable can be wrapped around the red/white separately, we will just combine them into one cable by twisting the wire.
The Radio
Here is the radio SAAB used in the old generation 9-3's. We only need to undo one screw to take the bottom cover off as the rest of it is held in place by metal bumps that snap into place.
Once the cover is off there is a lot to look at here, thankfully we only need to look at 3 pins.
We are looking for the R pin (Right Audio Channel), L pin (Left Audio Channel), and grounding (I used the radio chassis).
Practice soldering first with wires so you don't mess up the radio by accident. Make sure the leads do not touch otherwise it will short.
The reason we are attaching here is to use the phone system. When you plug into the aux the radio automatically mutes and audio can be played from your cell phone.
Once the cable is soldered put some electrical over where you soldered so it does not contact the metal casing causing a short. Make a notch in the rear of the radio and put it into the car.
